The Great Awakening and the Enlightenment, two key cultural movements, greatly increased Anglo-American colonists' ties to Great Britain. Both revolutions originated in Europe, but they promoted very different ideas: the Great Awakening fostered an ardent, emotional religiosity, whereas the Enlightenment supported the pursuit of reason in all things. British subjects dealt with these new concepts on both sides of the Atlantic.

Is there a difference between kundalini and spiritual awakening?
Kundalini differs from spiritual awakening in that it is a tremendous phenomenon that occurs in one's consciousness, whereas spiritual awakening is the consciousness awakening to its actual identity.
Kundalini is a female serpent coiled or wreathed into a person's spine, according to Indian mythology. She rises and stimulates the chakras in the body at the anus and head junctures as it awakens.
“Kundalini is a psychophysical phenomenon, generally developing from sustained engagement with religious or spiritual practices,” writes Duncan Barford.
Meditation, pranayama, tantric sex, yoga, and connected breathwork are examples of these techniques. Entheogenic drugs, particularly LSD, can, however, be a trigger.”
How do you know when your Kundalini is awakening?
Kundalini, as divine feminine energy, is normally latent in the root chakra (base of the spine). However, there are a variety of circumstances in which kundalini might be awoken unexpectedly, ranging from trauma to drug use to years of focused practice (such as through tantra or kundalini yoga).
I've separated kundalini awakening symptoms into two categories: “bright” and “dark” symptoms. Please keep in mind that kundalini energy is neither good nor bad; it is simply a fundamental power that exists within us. However, some of these experiences are pleasurable, while others are highly painful to the human mind:
‘Light' Kundalini Awakening Symptoms
- You have phases of Oneness during which your compassion for people grows.
- You're motivated to make significant, life-changing decisions and genuine changes in your life.
- The amount of synchronicity (meaningful or miraculous coincidences) increases dramatically.
- Your empathetic powers improve, and you are able to feel things deeply.
- You continue to receive large, cosmic “downloads” of data (soul communication)
‘Dark' Kundalini Awakening Symptoms
- External stimuli (bright light, TV violence, loud noises) cause your nervous system to become hypersensitive, and it shuts down or desires utter solitude.
- You are experiencing visual distortions that can be disconcerting (e.g., objects seeming to vibrate)
- Your body is suffused with strong heat, tremors, or electricity.
- You can't tell what's real from what's imagined (psychosis) and think you're going insane.
Other Kundalini Awakening Symptoms
The kundalini awakening indicators listed above are quite typical. However, as someone who has had kundalini energy travel through them, I can tell you that it does not happen in the same manner for everyone.
For example, one of the most recent experiences I've had was preceded by two weeks of low-level thoughts of ‘impending doom,' followed by the gentle movement of kundalini energy from my brain down through my body into my stomach. The energy was light, like a gentle breeze, and it seemed like it was ‘working' on something in my stomach when it reached it. Then it dissolved and gone.
What happens after Kundalini activation?
Kundalini awakening is the movement of powerful emotional and mental patterns in the subtle body, rather than a physical force that may be started and stopped as needed. As a result, awakening is impossible without taking the proper steps to purify the subtle body's pathways. Beware! Unpreparation could have disastrous consequences, such as a nervous breakdown during Kundalini awakening.
No human being can deny the reality of the Divine Mother Kundalini. It's simply a matter of reawakening the Holy Spirit and allowing the power to spread throughout the body. As she ascends to the crown, passing through various nadis and chakras, the divine power purifies both the body and the spirit. She ascends from Muladhar chakra by spreading her rings and passing every chakra in her way to the sahasrara, or crown chakra. She will begin by regenerating the chakras and repairing any harm produced by your poor lifestyle. She will use this to awaken the deities, bringing you closer to the stage of spiritual awareness.
Was the Great Awakening before the Enlightenment?
Despite being a reaction to the Enlightenment, the Great Awakening was also a long-term cause of the Revolution. Ministers used to be considered a kind of higher class. The lack of ordination among awakening ministers shattered respect for superiors. The new faiths that arose took a far more democratic approach. The overarching message was that there should be more equality. The Great Awakening was a “national” event as well. It was the first large event that all of the colonies could participate in, which helped to bridge the gap between them. There was no such incident in England, underscoring the differences between Americans and their British kin. Indeed, this religious upheaval had significant political ramifications.
What happens when you have a spiritual awakening?
As Kaiser argues, this is the start of your spiritual journey, as you begin to doubt everything you previously believed. You begin to purge certain aspects of your life (habits, relationships, and outdated belief systems) in order to make room for new, more meaningful experiences. You may sense that something is lacking, but you aren't sure what it is. It's common to feel disoriented, confused, and down during this time.
Can kundalini awaken naturally?
To be honest, there isn't a single answer to this question. After years of establishing a spiritual practice, practising Kundalini yoga, meditating, and so on, some people experience a Kundalini awakening. But it can also happen on its own, without any prior training.
“The Kundalini rising is an automatic process that happensand it can happen under any form of spiritual discipline, any style of yoga,” says Krishna Kaur, a Kundalini yoga teacher.
You may eventually become so neutral and balanced “that you know you've reached a place of total awakened-ness” through the practice of enriching your spirituality and inner world, Kaur notes, adding that she does not teach people to raise their Kundalini energy with an awakening as the goaland does not believe people should attempt it.
What triggers a kundalini awakening?
Kundalini energy sits like a coiled serpent at the base of the spine, according to Tantra. Kundalini awakening occurs when dormant energy flows freely upward via the seven chakras (energy centers) and leads to an expanded level of consciousness.
A kundalini awakening is a profound spiritual event for which yogis and practitioners prepare for years. The experience can occur deliberately through activities like as meditation, pranayama, yoga, and prayer, or it might occur unexpectedly. In the spiritual world, this form of awakening is very common, although in Western civilization, kundalini awakenings are regarded uncommon.
