The act of pouring aromatic oil over a person's head or complete body is known as anointing.

By extension, the term refers to the act of sprinkling, dousing, or smearing any fragrant oil, milk, butter, or other fat on a person or thing. Perfumes are made from scented oils, and sharing them is a kind of hospitality. Anointing has been used to impart a heavenly influence or presence since the beginning of time; it was also employed as a sort of medicine to rid people and objects of dangerous spirits and demons that were considered to cause disease.

The term “anointing” is now most commonly associated with ceremonial blessings such as the coronation of European rulers. This is a continuation of an ancient Hebrew practice, which was most famously seen in the prophet Samuel's anointings of Aaron as high priest and both Saul and David. The figure of the Messiah or Christ (Hebrew and Greek meaning “The Anointed One”), who appears prominently in Jewish and Christian theology and eschatology, is central to the notion. Anointing—particularly the anointing of the sick—is sometimes known as unction; in the Catholic church, the anointing of the dying as part of final rites is frequently referred to as “extreme unction.”

We witnessed how the sin of adultery turned Samson the Anointed into a toy in the hands of his foes. This demonstrates that sin is a trap that devastates tremendous dreams. Beware!
• It necessitates fellowship: A fellowship center is a hotbed of activity. Keep in mind that man's spirit is the Lord's flame. However, if that candle burns out, we can relight it if we travel to a fellowship center where the fire is already burning (Proverbs 27:17; Hebrews 10:25).
• It needs Kingdom Service: Serving God and His Kingdom yields unrivaled rewards, which in turn keeps our anointing alive. That indicates that when we dedicate ourselves to Kingdom work, we will be anointed with fresh oil.
• Fasting and prayer: Another platform for preserving the anointing is fasting and prayer. It's critical to realize that, while praying for empowerment, we also need to fast in order to walk in power. Fasting and prayer, on the other hand, increase our access to the Word, which helps us maintain our anointing.
• It takes the Word: The Word of God is to the Anointing as wood is to fire. The fire will die out if we stop throwing wood into it. The same is true of God's Word. Remember, without the Word, there is no Anointing! So, in order to keep the fire of the Holy Spirit burning within us, we must constantly engage the Word of God. We must stay in the Word to remain anointed. Every hour we spend in the Word will contribute to the anointing's longevity.
