How do you open up your gifts?
You want to unwrap the gift but keep it in its original packaging until after the celebration. You don't want the gift-opening portion of a party to stretch on indefinitely. People don't need to see your iPad or all of the attachments that came with your mixer right out of the box.
If the gift is a one-of-a-kind item (jewelry, handcrafted items, or anything with delicate features), you can surely pass it around for everyone to examine up close. You can also place it on a nearby table and ask anyone who wants to look at it to do so whenever they wish.
Write down who gave you what.
I realize you probably already know this, but I feel compelled to state it. When you receive five or six gifts at a small party, you're “sure” you'll remember who gave you what when you write your thank you notes later. Two days later, you'll be shocked at how quickly doubts, if not sheer forgetting, creep in.
You don't want to send a thank you message to someone who didn't give you a gift. It's humiliating! Regrettably, I have personal experience with this. That, however, is a story for another day.
If you follow the seven gift-opening etiquette tips I've provided, folks won't mind giving you another gift! When you open gifts with grace, people know you appreciate them and, more significantly, they know you know you appreciate them. And that is a sense that everyone enjoys!
How can I see my spiritual eyes?
- Pray with your eyes closed. You don't have to close your eyes, but there's something about tuning into God's realm and shutting out the earthly sphere that allows us to see what He sees.
Why is opening gifts so awkward?
What if I don't like what they picked out for me and they can tell by my expression? What if I enjoy it, but it doesn't appear that I do? What if I fart while everyone at my birthday meal is intently watching me open this present?
It's terrible to be unsure of how to react and fearful of making a mistake. I want to savor the moment, yet I'm terrified of being judged no matter what I do.
You probably feel the same way if you're one of the 40 million adults in the United States who suffer from social anxiety disorder. This is because opening presents in front of an audience can generate social anxiety symptoms such as fear of being embarrassed or offending someone. Anxiety can also express physically, causing you to blush, sweat, tremor, or feel as if you're about to vomit.
Be in prayer
Being in prayer is one technique to ensure that you are following God's plan for your life. Set aside time each day to focus on the Lord and His intentions for your life. If you surrender each aspect of your life to God, He will bless it and be able to work abundantly through it.
Be actively reading in the Word
It's one thing to go to church on Sunday and listen to the pastor's sermon; it's quite another to set aside time each day to be in God's word. Taking only a few minutes each day to study what God has written in the Bible will help you better grasp the calling God has placed on your life and help you live the life He desires for you.
Follow the commands He puts on your heart
Allow God to lead you and believe in the dreams He places on your heart. Believe that He will qualify you, and that if you have a dream that He has set on your heart, He will help you realize it, and in the process, He will be glorified.
Seek a godly community
When you have friends who encourage you in your walk with the Lord, it's a lot simpler to follow God's plans and act in ways that respect him. Seek out a church community that will hold you accountable and provide godly guidance.
Obey the Truth
Know what is stated in the Bible and live the way He has commanded. Follow the commandments and set an example of what it means to be a Christ follower.
Being an adult in today's modern society comes with its own set of obstacles and pressures, yet God qualifies us through our flaws, just as He qualified Moses to lead the Israelites and stand up to the pharaoh when He called him to do so. If God has placed a desire in your heart to return to school, He will equip you to do it. He'll be there to walk beside you and assist you in areas where you're lacking.
