When individuals hear the word, these are some of the words that come to mind “It's spiritual.” And scientists have discovered common ground: any of these phrases can be matched with the widely recognized scientific definition of spirituality the search for or communion with the sacred. Each might be understood as a component of the sacred experience or as a means of discovering the sacred, whether it is inside or without us.
Our capacity to delve deep and uncover the deeper meaning in life, to connect ourselves with a purpose that transcends beyond ourselves, to find relationship and union with something greater such as nature, God, or the transcendent, is a spiritual character strength.
When seen broadly and with an open mind, this strength applies to everyone the devoutly religious, the atheist seeking purpose, the agnostic pondering life's grand scheme, and the growing number of individuals who consider themselves to be atheists “It's spiritual, not religious.”
Spirituality is also one of the character characteristics most related with living a meaningful life, according to study. It is linked to a variety of factors that contribute to a better world, including increased compassion, altruism, volunteerism, and charity.
What are examples of spiritual strengths?
Spirituality, like many other character characteristics in the VIA Classification, has multiple dimensions. Meaning, purpose, life calling, universe beliefs, the expression of virtue/goodness, and activities that link with the transcendence are only a few of them. Scientists have consistently defined spirituality as the search for a connection with “the divine.” The sacred can refer to everything that is blessed, holy, honored, or unique. Recognizing the interdependence of all life as a spiritual practice can also assist to alleviate the suffering that comes with painful situations. “If we can compassionately remind ourselves in moments of failure that failure is part of the shared human experience, then that moment becomes one of connection rather than isolation,” says researcher Kristin Neff. How do you show your spiritual strength?
When trying to put all eight aspects of wellness together, the spiritual aspect of wellness can be the most individualized piece of the puzzle. People, on the whole, like to live lives that have meaning and purpose. When these objectives are attained, it brings peace into one's life and the lives of those around them.
So, what are some things you may do to increase your spiritual well-being? It's best to experiment with several ways to see what works best for you. Spiritual wellbeing can be reached in a variety of ways, both physically and intellectually, because it involves one's values, beliefs, and purpose.
1. Examine your spiritual foundation. You are merely asking yourself questions about who you are and what you mean when you explore your spiritual essence. Consider the following question: “Who am I?” What is the point of my existence? What am I most passionate about? These questions will lead you down a path where you will think more deeply about yourself and recognize aspects of yourself that will assist you in achieving fulfillment.
2. Search for hidden meanings. Looking for deeper meanings and examining patterns in your life will help you realize that you have power over your future. Knowing this can help you live a happier and healthier life.
3. Get it off your chest. It will be easier to retain a concentrated mind if you express what is on your mind. You may feel befuddled and unable to make sense of your feelings after a long day or an important event. You may be able to think more clearly and move forward if you write down your thoughts.
4. Give yoga a shot. Yoga is a physical discipline that can help you achieve spiritual wellness by eliminating mental and physical stress. Yoga is taught at all levels and can help relieve anxiety, sadness, weariness, and sleeplessness as well as reducing stress, strengthen the immune system, and lower blood pressure.
5. Take a trip. Yes, it is correct! Taking time for yourself to travel to a familiar location or to a new location can do wonders for your mental health. You will have a greater connection with yourself when your mind is able to block out distractions and assist you in reflecting and resting. This allows you to eliminate stressors and retrain your mind to focus on total wellness. Exercising, visiting with a counselor or advisor, meditation, or taking a temporary vow of silence are all activities that can be done while on a trip.
6. Keep an optimistic attitude. You will find yourself thinking differently and shifting your mind to a happy, healthy place once you begin to view things in your life in a good light. You'll discover that you're more comfortable when you eliminate negativity and re-frame how you think about specific things and situations.
7. Set aside some time to meditate. While managing your time and everyday tasks can be difficult, it is critical to make time for yourself. Take five to ten minutes each day to meditate, whether it's first thing in the morning, during your lunch break, or right before bedtime. By incorporating meditation and relaxation into your daily routine, you will be able to clear your mind and strengthen your connection to your spiritual well-being.

How is spiritual strength different from personal strength?
“Physical strength is determined by how much one can carry; spiritual strength is determined by how much one can bear.”
Coach Wooden was a big fan of this famous phrase. It represents what his father taught him about the value of spiritual power.
“Build a shelter against a rainyday,” was the sixth item of Coach's father's Seven-Point Creed.
Coach did not feel his father was telling him to construct a material shelter, but rather a spiritual shelter by leading a life based on ethical principles and with the primary objective of assisting others.
Coach spoke on how he handled talking religion with his players in his book A Game Plan for Life with Don Yeager:
“Have something to believe in; have a reason to believe in it, but keep open-minded,” I would advise them if they sought me for advice, which many did.
Coach was inspired in part by Mother Teresa's sensitivity to other people's faith. This is how Coach put it:
Mother Teresa set a great example for how to live one's own convictions. But she taught me crucial life skills in another, very different way: by respecting the views of others.
Mother Teresa established the Home for the Dying in Kolkata as a place where the impoverished of all faiths might come to live out their dying days in dignity and transition into the next life in peace.
They were offered medical attention as well as their own faith's dying ceremonies. Last Rites would be performed for Roman Catholics, water from the Ganges would be given to Hindus, and the Koran would be read to Muslims.
She discovered that people who came to her during this trying time in their lives needed to be treated as they were, both physically and spiritually; it was not her responsibility to change their minds, but merely to bring them calm.
This ideology was extremely appealing to me, and I could deeply relate with it, albeit on a much less catastrophic level.
It was not my position to tell my players which path to pursue with their beliefs. A faith that is forced is not a true one.
A mentor's role is to always guide rather than to push. It was my responsibility to listen to them, express my opinion, and encourage them to pursue the ideas that they believed were true.
Coach became a basketball coach who not only created players with physical strength, but also spiritual strength, by being a man of faith himself and pushing his players to have a strong belief system.
What does it mean God is my strength?
God is our safe haven, our retreat, and the place we turn to when we are terrified. And there is a great deal of apprehension in the air. God is also our “might” or strength. This is the same word that Jesus uses in Acts 1:8 when he promises that the Holy Spirit, who now lives inside us, would give us “strength.” However, if a safe haven and a source of strength are absent, they are useless. It's easy to come up with solutions, but they're often a long way away. You require intimate proximity to safety and strength. God, thankfully, is also our ever-present Helper, the one who cares enough for us to share his limitless resources with us. He is always close by, and it appears that he is closer to us than we are to ourselves.
We don't think about how vulnerable we are while life carries on as usual. We take everything for granted, including the opportunity to be together. Then a crisis occurs, and everything is turned upside down. The term “trouble” used by the Psalmist means “tribulation,” “trial,” or “distress.” Right now, we are truly going through a hardship. There are two versions of the Old Testament: a Hebrew OT and a Greek OT. The Greek Old Testament would have been read by the majority of the early Christians. “God is our refuge and strength, a Helper in trials and afflictions, the ones that find us exceedingly,” it continues. In other words, these tribulations are severe and dreadful, and it feels as if they are pursuing us. The Psalmist continues in verse two to describe how dreadful they are. That's what we're dealing with right now: a massive, chaotic natural disaster. We find our much bigger Helper, our God, who is our refuge and strength, in just this kind of crisis. He is always present.
God, please make your reassuring presence and sustaining force tangible right now. Show us how close you are and how powerful you are for us in a hundred various ways, both tiny and large. Thank you for promising your presence and strength to us, not just our neighbors, but ourselves, when we face hardships. You will never abandon or abandon us.
